Darren Kent, the talented actor known for his roles in “Game of Thrones,” “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” and even the popular soap opera “EastEnders,” has passed away at the young age of 36. The sad news was shared by his talent agency, Carey Dodd Associates, in a heartfelt tweet just this Tuesday.
In the agency’s somber statement, they revealed, “Our dear friend and client Darren Kent peacefully left us on Friday. His parents and closest companion were by his side. Our hearts and thoughts are with his family during this tough time. Rest in peace, my friend.”
Hailing from Essex, Kent was born and bred there. He honed his acting skills at Italia Conti, and in 2007, he emerged as a graduate. The year after, he made his mark with a significant role in the spine-tingling horror flick “Mirrors.” But his journey was only just beginning.
He ventured into the fantastical world of “Game of Thrones,” making a memorable appearance as a goatherd in Slavers Bay. And, keeping up with the times, he breathed life into a reanimated corpse in the 2023 film “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.”
Kent’s impressive repertoire didn’t end there. He graced the screen in various works, including “Snow White and the Huntsman,” “Marshal’s Law,” “Bloody Cuts,” “The Frankenstein Chronicles,” “Blood Drive,” “Les Misérables,” “Green Fingers,” “EastEnders,” “Happy Hours,” “Love Without Walls,” and “Birds Sorrow.”
A momentous achievement for Kent was clinching the best actor title at the Van D’or Awards in 2012. He secured this honor for his portrayal of Danny, a young lad plagued by a rare skin ailment that confined him away from the sun’s rays, in the heartwarming “Sunny Boy.” Interestingly, Kent shared an uncanny connection with his character, as he too wrestled with a skin disorder. This was in addition to his battles against osteoporosis and arthritis.
But Darren Kent wasn’t only a talented actor; he was also a skilled writer and director. He took the helm of the touching 2021 short film “You Know Me,” which didn’t just move hearts but also garnered him a coveted January Award.
The world has lost not only a gifted performer but also a courageous soul who faced personal challenges with the same determination he brought to his craft. Darren Kent’s legacy will forever live on through the characters he portrayed and the stories he helped create.
