The Punjab government’s attorneys are tasked with arranging a meeting between Hassaan Khan Niazi, Imran Khan’s nephew, and his family.
LHC Justice Sultan Tanvir Ahmad issued an interim order based on a petition from Hassaan’s father, Hafeezullah Khan Niazi. Hafeezullah requested his son’s recovery and an inquiry into his “illegal” detention.
The court summoned Hafeezullah’s lawyers to aid the court in the upcoming hearing on August 25. During the hearing, Punjab Additional Advocate General Ghulam Sarwar Nihung requested more time from the court.
He explained that an anti-terrorism court (ATC) had labeled Hassaan as an absconder.
The day before, the provincial government informed the LHC that Hassaan Khan Niazi had been handed over to the military for court martial due to his alleged involvement in the May 9 riots.
Nihung submitted a report on behalf of the concerned parties. The report detailed that the PTI leader had been in army custody due to his role in the Jinnah House attack.
Previously, the LHC had ordered authorities to present Hassaan in court on August 18.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that the Station House Officer (SHO) who transferred Hassaan to the military had violated the law. They urged the court to summon the SHO and demand an explanation.
